Wood stairs under the brown shag carpet
Knew there had to be something under the carpeted stairs. Sounds nice - carpeted stairs = NOT. Not when it's 1970's brown shag carpet covering the stairs and staircase. Since I found unfinished wood flooring project in the living and dining rooms when I pulled that carpet up, wasn't sure what I'd find when I pulled up the carpet on the stairs. Thought it might be the rough frame of stairs and staircase carpeted over. But yep, real wood steps, just splattered in carelessness with paint and spackle. Ugh, removing stain, sanding and refinishing project ahead.
